WCIS shares Wellington College Education’s vision of offering a “pioneering education to serve and help shape a better world.”
Its philosophy is built around Wellington’s core values and identity, particularly the five global values of Courage, Respect, Integrity, Kindness, and Responsibility, alongside the Wellington Identity traits of Inspired, Intellectual, Independent, Individual and Inclusive. The school aims to develop high‑achieving, high‑character pupils who are intellectually curious, socially responsible, and prepared to thrive as global citizens. The emphasis on “whole child” education is evident in the balance of academic, sporting, artistic, and service expectations.
Academic & Program Details
Curriculum Description
WCIS follows an English National Curriculum‑based pathway adapted for an international cohort. Pupils move from the Early Years Foundation Stage into a Prep curriculum and then into a Senior School structure that leads to IGCSEs in Years 10–11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 12–13. Core subjects at IGCSE include English, mathematics, and science, with a wide choice of additional sciences, languages, humanities, and arts. The IB Diploma offers a broad subject range, supported by Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and CAS, and WCIS reports average IB scores in the high 30s with a significant proportion of students scoring 40+.

Admissions
WCIS operates a selective admissions policy. Applicants are evaluated through age‑appropriate assessments, English‑language checks (where needed), review of school reports, and interviews to ensure academic readiness and alignment with the school’s values and expectations.
Interview
Pupils and parents usually attend interviews—on campus where possible, or online for overseas applicants. Discussions focus on the pupil’s background, interests, language profile, and fit with Wellington’s ethos and expectations. This also gives families a chance to understand the school’s culture, workload, and pathways before accepting an offer.
Assessment
Assessment typically includes cognitive/aptitude testing, English proficiency checks, and mathematics/writing tasks depending on the year group. Younger children are assessed through play‑based or informal sessions, while older pupils sit more formal tests linked to curriculum standards. Previous school reports and references are an important part of the decision process.
Deadline Notes
WCIS accepts applications throughout the year but advises families to apply early for August entry as key year groups can reach capacity. Offers are contingent on completed assessments, interviews, documentation, and timely payment of enrolment/resource fees, as outlined in the fee schedule and admissions terms.
