An open day gives you a few hours to see how a school really works. This free guide from NovaEd helps families use that time well, whether it's a first open morning or a second, private tour.
What's inside
- Before you go: checking eligibility and entry year, building a shortlist of three to five schools, registering early and testing the journey at school-run time.
- Which visit suits you: open days, early years sessions, private tours, online sessions and education fairs, and what each is good for.
- On the day: six everyday things to watch, from how adults speak to students to the ordinary classroom.
- What to bring: a short checklist.
- 20 questions worth asking: grouped by teaching, support, admissions, costs and daily life.
- After the visit: a simple grid to compare up to three schools side by side.
Two A4 pages. Print it, or keep it on your phone during visits. Pair it with the NovaEd Campus Culture Check.
