Open Days In Thailand: How To Make The Most Of Autumn 2026

Most international schools in Bangkok show families around by appointment rather than on fixed open days. This autumn, a few schools in Bangkok and Phuket have published dated open houses, all in October. If a school you like isn't listed, contact admissions and ask for a private tour.

Here's how to make the most of any school visit, followed by the dates confirmed so far.

Which kind of visit is right for you?

  • Open house. A presentation and guided tour, often for one section of the school, such as early years or secondary.
  • Private tour. The most common option in Bangkok. Personal and flexible, and you can ask to see what matters to you.
  • Virtual tour or call. Useful if you're still relocating.

Before you go

Check which section the open house covers. Some sessions are for early years and primary only, others for secondary. Make sure it matches your child's age.

Plan the journey. Bangkok traffic is a real part of daily life. Test the route at school-run time, and ask which areas the school buses cover.

Ask about boarding if it's relevant. Some schools, particularly in Phuket, offer boarding for older students. If you're considering it, ask to see the boarding house on the day.

Allow for the weather. October can still be rainy. Ask how the school uses indoor spaces for sport and play in the wet season.

Write your questions down, and register in advance.

On the day

  • Notice how staff and students speak to each other away from the stage.
  • Look at the children's own work on display.
  • Ask to see an ordinary classroom for your child's age.
  • Talk to current parents if you can.

The NovaEd Campus Culture Check gives you eight things to look for and a simple way to rate each one.

Questions worth asking

  1. How big are classes, and how many adults support each one?
  2. What support is there for children learning English, and how is Thai taught?
  3. How long do teachers usually stay?
  4. How do you settle students who arrive mid-year?
  5. What does admissions involve, and when are the deadlines for August 2027?
  6. Which costs sit outside tuition: application fee, deposit, capital or development fee, bus, lunch, trips?
  7. If boarding is offered, how is pastoral care organised in the evenings and at weekends?

Afterwards

Write down your impressions the same day, and compare schools on the same points. Then book private tours at the schools you'd like to see again.
